Connect Glynn Educator Externship Academy
The Connect Glynn Educator Externship Academy is designed to provide educators in the Glynn County School System the opportunity to observe and interact with local companies while gaining real world industry experience from a number of major employers in Glynn County.
Through this unique professional development opportunity, educators work with their team over three (3) days to complete the on-site requirement of the externship. They meet with key leadership, learn about the mission and vision of the company, experience a company tour, and complete job shadowing opportunities of employees in various occupations.
The externship experience concludes with a presentation day (Day 4) which consist of each group presenting to community partners about their experience.
Up to (25) educators are selected per cohort to participate.
The application for the Fall 2025 cohort will open on August 1st. The application deadline is September 12, 2025.

Cohort 2026 – Classroom Deliverables

The “Chick fil A Way” is a Choose Your Own Adventure Story that allows students to choose among 3 career options with the company ranging from entry level Team Member to Director. Each option provides important career choices that affect the outcome of the career.

Scutes Jekyll Island Adventure Digital Escape Room is an interactive activity that allows students to learn about the Jekyll Island Authority and careers with the state agency. Students earn letters after each challenge which spell out the Authority’s mission.

The King and Prince Seafood Matching Game helps students learn about the company while having fun. Each matching pair of cards has a question and an answer. This link comes complete with downloadable playing cards, instructions and a soft skills poem for younger students.

With “The Road to Becoming a Lineman” students will learn about careers with Okefenoke Rural EMC, one of our area’s power providers. Students will ask each other questions and will advance around the gameboard for correct answers.

The Sea Island Nearpod Experience provides educators with a framework for using Nearpod in the classroom to teach essential soft skills required to work at companies like Sea Island. This template comes compete with interactive questions that students can participate in real time.

In “Navigating Your Future at Southeast Georgia Health System”, students can choose among various educational levels and explore related career opportunities in one of Glynn County’s largest employers. Each career comes complete with information on job description, education required, pay rates and required soft skills.
Cohort 2025 – Classroom Deliverables

Mollie the Medic is an interactive tour of healthcare related careers with Southeast Georgia Health System. Designed for grades 4-8, students can see opportunities and learn more about careers besides just traditional “Doctor” or “Nurse”.

The Jekyll Island Adventure Game is designed for grades 3-12. The question bank has questions for all levels and includes biology, math, history and other topics. Students will learn about the Jekyll Island Authority and the careers available with this state park.

Willie Wire Hands is a fun children’s’ book designed for grades K-5. Willie takes students on a tour of Okefenokee Rural Electric Membership Cooperative, which provides many in Glynn County with electricity. Students learn about jobs like “Lineman” and “Customer Service Representative” and learn about the importance of “soft skills” like teamwork and cooperation.
